1. Base fertilizerBefore planting okra, you need to level the land and plow it deeply to make the soil looser, and then apply base fertilizer. The base fertilizer should be applied sufficiently, usually well-rotted manure, and a small amount of compound fertilizer should be added at the same time. Generally, 75,000 kg of manure is needed per hectare, while only 300 kg of compound fertilizer is needed. After fertilizing, the land needs to be raked and then made into ridges before planting. 2. Fertilizer for seedlingsAfter the okra sprouts, apply fertilizer to the seedlings. To help plants that have not yet broken through the soil to germinate, urea is the most commonly used fertilizer. Generally, 90-120 kg should be applied per hectare. Do not apply too much. Excessive nitrogen fertilizer content will affect the absorption of other nutrients and there is a risk of excessive growth, which will prevent it from flowering and bearing fruit. 3. Seedling FertilizerWhen it is time to transplant okra, it is necessary to apply fertilizer to promote seedling growth. Generally, compound fertilizer is used, and 225-300 kg per hectare is applied. Compound fertilizer can supplement comprehensive nutrients and is very helpful for the development of plants, but the concentration must be controlled and it can only be used after being fully diluted, otherwise it will cause fertilizer damage. 4. Fruit-enhancing fertilizerDuring the flowering and fruiting period of okra, heavy fertilizer needs to be applied, mainly to help the fruit grow. Fertilizer is mostly manure, and compound fertilizer can also be used. The manure must be fully decomposed, otherwise it will cause damage to the plant and there is also the risk of insects and diseases. In the middle and late stages, appropriate topdressing should be applied to prevent premature aging of the plants. |
