How to propagate gardenia by cuttings, gardenia propagation method

1. Time Selection

For gardenia cuttings, you can choose water cuttings or soil cuttings. It is recommended to choose water cuttings. This method is more convenient, has a relatively high survival rate, and is also conducive to rooting and germination in the later stage. If you choose water cutting cultivation, the time should be from July to September. During this period, the temperature is relatively high and the air humidity is relatively high, which is more suitable for survival.

2. Preparation

For water plugs, you need to prepare a suitable container, clean it in advance, and disinfect it, then place it aside to dry. There are not many requirements for the water quality used for cuttings. You can just use tap water that has been allowed to stand, and keep the water clean. You also need to prepare a foam board and drill a few small holes in it.

3. Cutting cuttings

It is very important to choose suitable cuttings. You need to choose branches with vigorous vitality, which need to be sturdy, about two years old, and free of diseases and insect pests. Such branches have a higher survival rate after cuttings and have a stronger ability to take root. Cut off the leaves at the bottom of the branches, soak them in disinfectant water for disinfection, then take them out and dry them.

4. Take cuttings

Insert the branches on the foam board, then place them on a container of water, maintain a warm temperature, and frequently spray water around to increase humidity. After a period of time, they will take root and can be transplanted into pots after stable growth.
