How to prune a fortune tree

How to prune a fortune tree

1. Pruning time

The best time to prune the money tree is around April or May in spring, when the temperature is very suitable and the growth is very vigorous. After pruning, it can quickly grow back to life and will not affect its later growth. The rest of the time is also possible, but the surrounding climate must be good.

2. Preparation

When pruning a money tree, you must choose the right tools. You can use special gardening shears, and they must be disinfected before use to prevent infection of the plant. In order to allow the plants to recover as quickly as possible after pruning, you can apply fertilizer once within one month before pruning to replenish nutrients to promote rapid recovery later.

3. Pruning

1. Diseased and insect-infested branches: When you first start pruning, you need to cut off the diseased and insect-infested branches to prevent infection of the remaining healthy branches of the plant, which can control the diseases and pests.

2. Leggy branches: Some leggy branches that do not grow well need to be pruned properly. Shortening the branches can also accumulate nutrients to promote the growth of other branches.

3. Too dense branches: Branches that grow too densely need to be properly thinned out to reduce the nutrient supply to the plant so that the remaining branches can grow better.

4. Shaping: In order to ensure aesthetics, the plants also need to be pruned and shaped.

4. Maintenance after cutting

After pruning, treat the wound, apply carbendazim on the wound, and then place it in a cool place to dry.
