Disease prevention and control of wolfberry

Disease prevention and control of wolfberry

anthrax

Symptoms

Wolfberry anthracnose is also called black fruit disease. When the fruit is green, small black spots or brown spots will appear on the surface of the fruit. If it is cloudy or rainy, the spots will become larger, causing the entire fruit to turn black.

Onset time

This disease often occurs in the rainy season, and is less severe and spreads slowly in the dry season.

Prevention and control measures

Qing Garden. In early spring or late autumn, clean up the broken branches and diseased branches cut from the wolfberry garden and burn them in a concentrated manner.

Choose planting varieties. Whenever possible, choose varieties that are disease-resistant.

Reasonable farming. The purpose is to remove grass roots, bacteria, and insect pests that overwinter in the winter.

Water at the right time. Water appropriately. Be careful not to have stagnant water and pay attention to the temperature in the field. This will control the growth of bacteria.

Suitable fertilizer. Lycium barbarum is mainly fed with organic fertilizer, supplemented with trace element fertilizers needed by the plant, which can increase the plant's disease resistance.

Reasonable and timely pruning.

Root rot

Symptoms

As the name suggests, wolfberry root rot means that the roots do not rot, and the diseased plants show yellowing and drooping leaves.

Conditions of disease

The pathogen overwinters in the diseased parts of the plant or in diseased branches in the soil. When conditions are right the following year, it enters the plant and causes the disease. The pathogen is usually spread by water from rainfall or irrigation. The disease usually starts in mid-to-late April to June and spreads in July and August.

Prevention and control measures

Watering. Use drip irrigation as much as possible, which can not only ensure the moisture of the soil, but also regulate the watering time.

Fertilization. Organic fertilizer is usually the main fertilizer, supplemented by other fertilizers. Just make sure the plants have a balanced diet.

powdery mildew

Symptoms

This disease is most harmful to the leaves. White mold and pink spots appear on the surface of the leaves. In severe cases, the entire plant will appear white.

Characteristics of disease

The pathogen overwinters on the soil surface and in the winter buds of diseased branches, and becomes diseased in the spring of the following year when the plant is flowering and the fruits are just beginning to grow. The disease is more serious when the weather is dry than when there is more rain. The large temperature difference between morning and evening can also make it easy for the disease to occur and spread.

Prevention and control measures

Turn over the shallow surface more often to weed, reduce the reproduction and parasitism of pathogens, and prevent cross-infection of plants.

Reasonable use of fertilizers can improve soil fertility and make plants stronger.

Gummosis

Symptoms

In early spring, sap oozes out from the bark of the plant or from wounds on the bark, most of which are foamy. When autumn is approaching, the gum will stop flowing, and the bark at the diseased part will appear charred as if it has been burned. The cortex and wood tissues will slowly separate until the plant dies.

Conditions of disease

Gummosis is mostly caused by machine damage during field operations, damage to tree bark during pruning, and pests.

Prevention and treatment methods

Choose the right garden shower. It is better to choose sandy loam soil with a salt content below 0.33% for wolfberry. ② Cultivate strong seedlings to make the plants stronger. ③Appropriate fertilization and watering. Wolfberry is relatively sensitive to water and fertilizer. In order to ensure that the fertilizer is fully decomposed in the soil and exerts its effect as soon as possible, various kinds of decomposed farmyard manure are generally used from late October to mid-November. The first watering in spring should be shallow. Do not let the wolfberry garden accumulate water for more than four hours.
