Cultivation method of mountain-bred rhododendron

Cultivation method of mountain-bred rhododendron

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: Mountain azalea grows best in a cool environment. It grows fastest when the temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees. Too high a temperature is not conducive to its growth. If you want to delay flowering, you can lower the temperature to two to four degrees when the buds appear on the plant. Keep it in a low temperature state, which will have a very obvious effect.

2. Watering: A lot of water is needed during the growing period in summer, and the water evaporates quickly in hot weather. At this time, it is necessary to replenish water in time. At the same time, the humidity in the air must meet the standard. You can replenish the water evaporated from the leaves by spraying. The soil must always be kept moist. Sufficient water will ensure good growth.

3. Light: Sufficient warm sunlight is required for normal growth. The flowering will be better and the color will be brighter with sufficient light. However, it cannot be placed directly outdoors to be exposed to strong light, otherwise it will be sunburned and will wither. If you grow it outdoors in the summer, you can use a shade cloth to provide it with shade to ensure that normal growth is not affected.

4. Fertilization: The growth of mountain azalea requires fertile soil, but you must insist on applying thin fertilizers frequently. Do not apply too much fertilizer each time. Just do it multiple times. You can apply phosphorus fertilizer once during the flowering period, and apply nitrogen-phosphorus compound fertilizer once or twice after flowering.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: Cutting is the main method of reproduction. The best time is between May and June each year. Choose branches about five to eight centimeters in length for cuttings. The temperature should also be maintained between 20 to 25 degrees. Spray water mist frequently to promote growth.

2. Pruning: Mountain azalea needs to be properly pruned during its growth period. This can ensure the sprouting of new branches and cut off some dead flowers in time, which is conducive to the next flowering and can also reduce nutrient loss.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: Leaf swelling disease will occur, which will cause the branches and leaves of the plant to be uneven. It can be controlled by using Bordeaux solution.

2. Pests: Crowned web bugs will appear. Both larvae and adults will affect the growth and development of mountain rhododendron. They will also leave some unknown liquid on the branches and leaves. You can spray omethoate solution to prevent and control it.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: It is non-toxic and is a very effective medicine.

2. Can it be grown at home? Yes, its flowers are highly ornamental, but you need to open the windows for ventilation in summer.
