What fertilizer can make chives grow thick and strong?

What fertilizer can make chives grow thick and strong?

Chives are perennial vegetables with a long growing period, so they have relatively high requirements for soil fertility. In the process of growing leeks, it is necessary to do timely fertilization to improve soil fertility, promote growth and prevent premature aging. So what kind of fertilizer can make leeks grow thick and strong? Let’s learn more about it below.

What fertilizer can make chives grow thick and strong?

According to the needs of leeks, leeks' favorite fertilizers are: chicken manure, duck manure, human and animal manure, household ashes, and cake fertilizer. When applying cake fertilizer, you must first ferment the cake fertilizer, then add water, and then dilute it before pouring it on. The time for fertilization must be chosen well. It is recommended that the best time for fertilization is in the evening.

How to fertilize chives correctly?

1. Base fertilizer

Before sowing, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied to the soil. The base fertilizer is mainly composed of decomposed manure, with an appropriate amount of superphosphate. Spread the fertilizer evenly on the soil, plow and level the soil to improve soil fertility.

2. Topdressing

(1) Top dressing during the seedling stage: After the leek seedlings emerge, top dressing fertilizer should be applied according to their specific growth and soil nutrients. Human feces and urine or compound fertilizer can be chosen as seedling fertilizer . When using human feces and urine, you must be careful to dilute it before use and combine it with irrigation at the same time.

(2) Top dressing during the growing season: Autumn is the best time for leek growth and it is also a stage where fertilizer and water management is particularly important. At this time, top dressing should be applied to the leek in time to promote the growth of its leaves, rhizomes and roots. The specific topdressing recommendation is to apply 30-50 kg of triple compound fertilizer per mu of land.

(3) Topdressing after harvest: In principle, topdressing should be applied after each harvest. Top dressing can be done by digging a trench between two rows of leeks. If there is enough fertilizer, it can also be done about 3 days after the leeks are harvested. The best fertilizer is a mixture of decomposed farmyard manure, compound fertilizer and urea, which is the most effective; or you can use cake fertilizer and triple compound fertilizer.

In general, the fertilization of leek should be based on organic fertilizer , combined with chemical fertilizer for reasonable topdressing, and attention should be paid to the method and time of fertilization to ensure the healthy growth of leek and improve yield and quality. However, when applying fertilizer, flexible adjustments should be made according to the growth needs of leeks and soil conditions to achieve the best fertilization effect.
