How to cultivate Cypripedium

How to cultivate Cypripedium

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: The Cyperus rotundus prefers a warm growing environment. The temperature should not be higher than 35 degrees or lower than 5 degrees. In winter, if the temperature is below five degrees or around zero degrees, frostbite will occur. At the same time, the temperature suitable for the growth of Cyperus rotundus is between 15 degrees and 30 degrees.

2. Watering: The growth of the Cyperus rotundus requires moist soil, so it needs to be watered once a day under normal growth, but try to avoid water accumulation. It needs to be watered thoroughly each time. If the temperature is too high in summer, the water will evaporate faster, so it needs to be watered twice a day to prevent it from withering due to lack of water.

3. Light: The Cyperus rotundus prefers a relatively dark environment and cannot be exposed to strong light. Its color and growth will be affected if exposed to strong light. Just let it receive scattered light in the morning and evening.

4. Fertilization: When fertilizing the slipper orchid, be careful not to apply too concentrated fertilizer. The fertilizer needs to be diluted before application. The fertilizer must penetrate deeply into its roots. Do not sprinkle the fertilizer directly on the roots on the soil surface, otherwise burns will occur.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: Usually division is used for reproduction. Division can be done in spring and autumn. At the same time, the Cyperus rotundus is divided every three years. After division, each plant will have five bulbs. After that, be careful not to water too much and avoid direct sunlight.

2. Pruning: The growth rate of the Cyperus rotundus is not very fast, so there is no need to prune it frequently. You only need to cut off some yellowing branches and leaves. When dead flowers appear, you can also cut them off to reduce the loss of nutrients.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: White rot will occur, mostly in the rainy season. This disease will cover its branches, leaves and flowers with a layer of white substance, which can be controlled by sprinkling lime on it.

2. Pests: Scale insects will occur, and this pest will occur in summer. It can be prevented by using omethoate solution.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: It is non-toxic, so there is no need to worry about the risk of poisoning from accidental ingestion, and its appearance is very special.

2. Can it be raised at home? It is not recommended because it generally grows in the wild.
