How to grow the Night Guanyin Lotus

How to grow the Night Guanyin Lotus

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: The temperature suitable for its development is between 20 and 35 degrees. If the temperature is below 15 degrees, it will stop growing. Therefore, try to give it enough light in autumn and winter and increase the maintenance temperature to help it survive the winter and grow normally.

2. Watering: April to September every year is its vigorous growth period. At this time, you must ensure sufficient water and water it every day. When the temperature is high, you also need to spray water on the branches and leaves to keep them moist. After autumn, the temperature drops and the plants have passed their growing period, so the frequency of watering needs to be reduced, and watering two to three times a week is sufficient.

3. Fertilization: During the growing period, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be used to promote the growth of its branches, leaves and stems and make the plant grow stronger. The frequency of fertilization is twice a month, and no fertilization is needed at other times.

4. Light: It prefers a semi-shady growing environment. If it grows in a sunny environment, the plant will be sunburned and black spots will appear on the branches and leaves.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: You can use the cutting method to propagate black Guanyin Lotus. Cut the stronger branches from the plant, disinfect the incision, and then insert them into the soil with good permeability. Place it in a warm but shaded place for maintenance. It will grow roots in about two weeks.

2. Pruning: Generally, it does not require pruning. You only need to remove the dry and rotten leaves regularly. After removing them, the cut should not be exposed to water. You can only water it normally after the cut is dry and scabbed.

3. Problem Diagnosis

1. Pests: It is poisonous in itself, so it is generally not infected by pests.

2. Pathology: If you find that the branches and leaves are dry and drooping, it may be due to insufficient watering. This problem can be solved by slowly increasing the amount of watering.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: It is poisonous. The whole plant is poisonous, and the stems are the most toxic. If you are accidentally infected with its toxin, you should immediately take substances such as egg white, batter, or go to the hospital for an injection of glucose saline.

2. Is it suitable for family breeding: Generally speaking, families should not breed it, especially if there are children at home. If they accidentally eat it, they may experience diarrhea, convulsions, blindness, etc. However, if the venom is handled correctly during the breeding process and does not stick directly to the body, there will be no problem.
