How to grow daylily

How to grow daylily

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: When planting, the temperature must be kept above five degrees, so that it will break through the soil and grow into seedlings. The temperature suitable for the development of branches and leaves is between fifteen and twenty degrees. The temperature for its flowering needs to be maintained at twenty to twenty-five degrees.

2. Watering: It is resistant to barrenness and drought, so it only needs to be watered once a week. When the temperature is too high, you can spray some water mist around to cool it down.

3. Fertilization: After the above-ground part stops growing, it needs to be applied with organic fertilizer. You can use farmyard manure or humus fertilizer. During the seedling stage, you can use seedling fertilizer to promote growth. After it grows buds, urea needs to be applied. The purpose is to extend the flowering period, that is, to extend the picking period.

4. Light: It likes sunshine, but cannot tolerate strong light. In order to avoid being exposed to the sun, it can be planted together with taller crops during planting. This can both meet its light needs and provide shade.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be propagated by division. After digging the mother plant out of the soil, shake off the soil and separate them one by one. You can also break off the buds directly from the mother plant, usually two to three buds in a cluster. Remove the old roots and rotten roots on the stem, and then you can plant them. The planting soil should be mixed with bone meal to ensure sufficient nutrients.

2. Land preparation: It has very strong vitality and does not have high requirements for soil. It can be planted in general soil. Before planting, the soil should be turned as deep as possible to increase the oxygen content in the soil and prevent the plants from falling over.

3. Problem Diagnosis

1. Pests: Daylily is more susceptible to red spider mites, which can harm the leaves. They gather on the back of the leaves and suck the branches and leaves of the plant. The symptom is the appearance of white spots on some parts of the leaves. In this case, you can use Mite Cleaner to eliminate insects. When using the agent, it needs to be diluted with water. Please refer to the instructions for the water ratio.

2. Lesions: Anthracnose is a common disease of daylily. The symptoms are that the leaf tips turn dark green, then turn dark green, and spread to the edges of the leaves. In this case, you can consider using chlorothalonil for treatment.

IV. Other issues

1. Edibility: It is edible and is a common vegetable. Eating more of it can help relieve the symptoms of anemia.

2 Can it be grown at home: It is generally not recommended for home cultivation because its roots are relatively developed and the flowerpot cannot provide enough space for the roots to grow. It is recommended to grow it in the open field.
