Monstera beheading method

Monstera beheading method

1. Beheading Method

During the period of vigorous growth of the plant, if you observe the shape of the entire plant, you may find longer branches and leaves, which may appear in normal growth. The time is chosen in spring every year. First, you need to prepare a sharp knife. Be careful not to use scissors, otherwise there will be marks of squeezing on the wound, making it difficult to heal. Cutting off branches that are too high will help to evenly distribute nutrients, encourage the supply of nutrients to other branches, and make the leaves grow more vigorously and the plant shape more beautiful. Don’t waste the cut branches, you can use them as cuttings to form new plants.

2. Take cuttings

1. Processing branches: keep two nodes on the branches that are cut off, with leaves on them, and place them aside to dry slightly.

2. Prepare the substrate: The substrate needs to be both nutritious and breathable so that water does not accumulate and there is sufficient nutrients for growth.

3. Carry out cuttings: Insert the branches into the substrate, water it thoroughly to promote rooting, place it in a warm place, ensure a certain humidity, and pay attention to shade. Do not expose it to strong sunlight. The temperature range is about 20 degrees Celsius. It will take about half a month to a month to take root.
