How to grow pineapple heads hydroponically

How to grow pineapple heads hydroponically

1. Processing pineapple head

Prepare a clean kitchen knife and use it to cut off the pineapple head, making sure the cut is flat. Then peel off the bottom layer of leaves on the pineapple head until the white area is exposed. Then place the peeled pineapple head in a cool and ventilated place and dry it for 2-3 days.

2. Hydroponic pineapple head

After the cut surface of the pineapple head has completely dried, prepare a watertight container, fill it with water, place the pineapple head on the mouth of the container, and let the bottom of the pineapple head slightly touch the water surface. In the early stage of hydroponics, change the water once a day to prevent the pineapple head from smelling.

3. Maintaining pineapple head

After about 2-3 weeks of hydroponics, the pineapple head will be able to take root. That is, when we cut the pineapple head, we observe a circle of small dots on the outside of the cut surface of the plant. These small dots are where the pineapple head grows roots. After the pineapple head takes root, observe if the water is turbid and replace it with clean water.

4. Hydroponic nutrition

Because there are no nutrients in the water for hydroponic pineapple heads, flower lovers who want to cultivate them in water for a long time must add nutrient solution to the water to supplement nutrients for the pineapple heads (apply after rooting).

5. Transition from hydroponics to soil culture

If you want a pineapple head to grow pineapples, it is best to wait until the root system of the pineapple head grows to 5cm, then transplant it into the soil. After planting, place the potted plant in a place with diffused light and good ventilation. After a week, gradually increase the light to full sunlight. Usually keep a higher temperature, wait until the soil turns white and dry, then water it thoroughly. In 1-3 years, the pineapple head will be able to produce big pineapples!
