High-yield cultivation technology of Pleurotus ostreatus

Oyster mushroom is very popular in domestic and foreign markets due to its easy cultivation, fast growth, high nutritional value and good taste. With the growing demand for oyster mushrooms in the domestic market, the area for cultivating oyster mushrooms is also expanding. Many farmers want to try growing oyster mushrooms. Let’s learn about a high-yield oyster mushroom cultivation technique.

1. Preparation of mushroom house and culture medium

To carry out large-scale cultivation of oyster mushrooms , you first need a scientifically and rationally designed mushroom house, which can be an unused empty room or basement, but the terrain should be as high as possible and equipped with necessary facilities, such as sufficient and clean water sources and a good irrigation and drainage system. The walls of the mushroom house should be thick to facilitate heat preservation.

The mushroom house should be equipped with beds for cultivating oyster mushrooms. All beds should not be against the wall, and a space of about 60 cm should be left as a passage. After the preparation is completed, all tools and corners in the mushroom house should be thoroughly disinfected. It is recommended to use formaldehyde or potassium permanganate for disinfection through fumigation. After disinfection, prepare the culture medium for cultivating Oyster mushroom, which is usually made of cottonseed hulls and lime. First dissolve the lime with clean water, then sprinkle it evenly on the cottonseed hulls, stir it with a tool to ensure that the cottonseed hulls absorb an appropriate amount of water, and the compost is ready.

2. Sowing

There are various ways to sow oyster mushrooms, but the most commonly used and convenient one is the layer sowing method. First, spread a layer of plastic film on the planting bed, then spread a layer of culture medium evenly on the film, then sow oyster mushrooms on the culture medium, and finally spread another layer of culture medium on the oyster mushrooms. Repeat this sowing process until all the culture medium has been laid and flattened. Before sowing, you need to put the oyster mushroom spawn into a clean container, disinfect your hands, and break the spawn apart for sowing. After sowing, cover with agricultural film to retain moisture and prevent bacterial contamination. The sowing time is generally from August to October each year.

3. Management during the germ-raising period

During the growth of Oyster mushrooms, management during the mycelium development stage is crucial, ensuring that humidity and temperature are properly controlled to avoid bacterial invasion. Within 10 days after sowing, keep the cultivation environment temperature below 15℃. After the fungus germinates and enters the growth period, the temperature of the culture medium should be checked frequently. If the temperature is too high, the agricultural film should be removed in time for ventilation, and then covered again after the temperature drops to an appropriate level. If the fungus is found to be contaminated, lime powder (about 60% of the dosage) should be sprinkled immediately on the place where the fungus grows, and this should be continued until one month after sowing. The culture medium will be basically full of mycelium.

4. Management during the fruiting period

After the mycelium is fully grown, ventilation is required for about one hour every day to increase the natural temperature difference in the mushroom house and promote the solidification of mycelium. Then adjust the ambient humidity to 80% according to actual conditions and keep the temperature at 16℃ to 17℃.

The above is an introduction to the key points of oyster mushroom cultivation. In fact, there are many ways to grow oyster mushrooms. You can choose the appropriate one according to your own conditions, such as greenhouse cultivation mode.
