How to plant Kochia seeds

How to plant Kochia seeds

1. Collect seeds

It is an annual herb and seeds need to be collected for planting next year. Its flowering period is from June to July, and it can be harvested in August to September after the flowers fade. Cut all the grass, expose it to the sun, take out the seeds inside the plant, and save them for sowing next spring.

2. Choose the soil

The requirements for soil are not strict and there are not too many restrictions. If planted in the ground, you can choose a sunny place, which can be met in a normal farmland. If you want potted plants, you can prepare suitable loam, ensure that it is breathable, well-drained, and has a certain degree of looseness, so that it can fully guarantee growth conditions.

3. Sowing

If you want to sow in the open field, you can choose mid-to-early April in spring. Loosen the selected loam and sow the seeds in it. The seeds cannot be stored for too long. It is best to use new seeds from last year. If the seeds are two years old, the germination rate will be reduced. After sowing, cover with a thin layer of soil. Do not cover with thick soil, otherwise it will be difficult for the seedlings to emerge.

4. Post-sowing maintenance

After sowing, pay attention to moisturizing and water it in time to prevent the soil in the pot from being too dry.
