What fertilizer is good for growing radishes?

Fertilizer for growing radish

Radish has very high requirements for potassium. The amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium absorbed in different growth periods varies greatly. The ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium needs to be coordinated. In addition, it also needs the application of boron fertilizer. Once radish lacks boron, the roots will not expand well and it is easy to get "brown heart disease". Therefore, the appropriate application of boron fertilizer can increase radish yield and quality.

Radish base fertilizer

Applying sufficient base fertilizer is an important part of ensuring a high yield of radish. The type and amount of base fertilizer vary according to the soil and variety. For plots of land with medium fertility, 2.5 tons of manure, 50 kg of wood ash, and 30-40 kg of superphosphate can be applied per mu. If conditions permit, 50 kg of cake fertilizer can be applied, which has a good effect on the development of fleshy roots and improving quality.

Radish topdressing

It is recommended to apply 2 to 3 tons of human manure per mu after the radish seedlings are established, and add 3 to 4 kilograms of phosphorus and 3 to 5 kilograms of potassium.

Fertilizer for radish growth period

When the radish grows 2-3 true leaves, the first topdressing can be carried out, applying about 1 kg of nitrogen per mu, in strips between rows or in holes.

Fertilizer for radish during fruiting period

Half a month after the second topdressing, when the radish fleshy roots are in full swing, apply 20 to 30 kg of 45% compound fertilizer or 3 to 4 kg of nitrogen fertilizer and 10 to 15 kg of potassium fertilizer per mu.

The correct way to fertilize radish

The application of organic fertilizer is very important for radish. It can not only improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil, which is beneficial to the growth of radish fleshy roots, but also increase radish yield and quality. However, it should be noted that fully decomposed organic fertilizer should be applied. Before land preparation, the decomposed and sieved organic fertilizer, all phosphorus fertilizer, 1/2 nitrogen and potassium fertilizer should be evenly spread in the field.

During the rosette stage, urea and potassium sulfate can be applied with water to promote the growth of rosette leaves, so as to promote the rapid growth of fleshy roots. During the peak growth period of radish fleshy roots, three-element compound fertilizer should be applied once. When conditions permit, biogas slurry and chemical fertilizers can be applied alternately with water.

Matters Needing Attention in Fertilizing Radish

After the radish shoulders show, small and medium-sized radish varieties do not need topdressing, but large radish varieties in autumn and winter need to be topdressed with nitrogen and potassium fertilizers. During the period when the fleshy roots of the radish are expanding, foliar fertilizers can be sprayed to increase the yield and quality of the radish.
