Can the trunk of an osmanthus tree be sawed off?

1. Can it be sawed off?

The trunk of the osmanthus tree can be sawed off. Generally, the sawing height is chosen according to the size of the pot, usually half a meter high is enough. Before sawing it off, make sure its roots are well developed so that new shoots will grow quickly. At the same time, we must ensure that the environment is suitable for its growth, water and fertilize appropriately, and avoid various problems caused by poor maintenance.

2. Maintenance after sawing

1. Disinfection and sealing: The sawed-off tree trunk is easily infected by bacteria, and water will also be lost from the wound, so it needs to be disinfected and sealed in time. You can apply wood ash evenly on the surface of the wound, wait for it to be slowly absorbed, and then apply wax or paint on it.

2. Increase the temperature: After being cut, the osmanthus tree should be placed in an environment of 15-28℃, which is more conducive to its recovery. If you cannot control the room temperature, cut it off in the spring when the temperature is more suitable and the branches will sprout and grow quickly.

3. Appropriate watering: In order to make the osmanthus tree sprout as soon as possible after being cut, it needs to be watered appropriately. The amount of water should not be too much, because the plant does not require much water, and the roots will be damaged if the water is not absorbed. After new sprouts grow, water them more often to help their growth.

4. Add fertilizer: After the new sprouts grow out, adding some fertilizer will be more helpful for its growth. Fertilizers are mainly nitrogen, and the purpose is to promote the growth of new shoots and branches and leaves. In summer, you should start applying more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to promote flowering. Apply organic fertilizer once before winter to help it survive the winter safely.
