How to grow kudzu flowers

How to grow kudzu flowers

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: Kudzu flower has a strong adaptability. Generally, a relatively cool environment is more suitable for it, so you don’t need to pay too much attention to its temperature in winter. If you grow it in the south, you can grow it outdoors. However, its heat resistance is not high, so try to avoid high temperatures in summer, otherwise it will not bloom or will bloom late.

2. Watering: Kudzu flowers prefer a humid environment, so they need to be watered many times during the growth period to keep the soil moist. However, there should be no accumulation of water or flooding, as this will cause the roots of the plant to rot. In summer, it is necessary to replenish water in time and lower the ambient temperature by watering.

3. Light: Kudzu flowers prefer a darker growing environment, so they cannot be exposed to strong light. They need to be shaded in the summer and placed in a relatively hidden place indoors. They only need scattered sunlight for normal growth, and soft light in the morning and evening is most suitable.

4. Fertilization: Kudzu flowers do not have high requirements for fertilizer. You only need to apply some thin fertilizer to it. Because it can grow normally in poor soil, it is usually sufficient to apply fertilizer once every six months. The fertilizer must not be too heavy to avoid burning the roots of the plant.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: Sowing and cuttings are two important methods of reproduction. When sowing, you need to soak the seeds in warm water for a day in advance, and then pay attention to the planting distance because it has strong spreading ability. Cuttings are best carried out in spring when there is no germination. Choose branches about 15 cm in length and then do the cuttings.

2. Pruning: Kudzu flowers spread easily, so they need to be pruned from time to time. Cut off some of the overly dense branches and leaves to ensure normal ventilation and to control their growth.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: Leaf blight will occur, mostly in summer, and needs to be controlled with a wettable powder.

2. Pests: Scarab beetles occur in the summer, and you can use dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane solution to completely eliminate them.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: It is not poisonous. Many people use kudzu flowers to make tea, which is very good for body and mind cultivation.

2. Can it be grown at home? Yes, but you must pay attention to its growing temperature and ventilation.
