How to plant old rose piles

How to plant old rose piles

1. Planting time

The survival rate of old rose stumps is not high. If you want to ensure its healthy growth, you must first pay attention to the planting time. It is usually planted in spring or autumn when the temperature is suitable. The survival rate is lower in summer.

2. Pot soil preparation

Old rose stumps have a strong ability to adapt to soil, but loose and fertile soil is more helpful for its growth. You can use sandy loam with good drainage and air permeability. Soil that is too sticky will lead to poor growth and affect flowering.

3. Planting

Choose a pot that is the right size so the roots of the old rose stump have room to grow. Place broken tiles on the bottom of the pot, then fill the bottom with sand and potting soil. Soak the roots of the plant in rooting water or carbendazim solution, take out, dry it, and place it upright in the pot. Fill the pot with soil, compact it, water it thoroughly and wait for it to germinate.

4. Subsequent maintenance

Old rose stumps are different from new seedlings. They can adapt to the environment easily and the seedling acclimatization period is not long. Therefore, it is necessary to replenish water and apply fertilizer in time. You can water after the soil surface is dry. You can apply more fertilizer and choose decomposed organic fertilizer. It should not be exposed to light before new sprouts grow and should be placed in semi-shade. Once new shoots appear, you can place it in the sun for maintenance.
