High-yield cultivation technology and methods of stevia

High-yield cultivation technology and methods of stevia

Stevia is not only a great source of sugar, it also has many uses. Firstly, it has antiseptic properties and can be added to pastries to extend their shelf life. Secondly, stevia is low in calories, only one-third of sugar. Additionally, it is easy to grow at home and can be used as a natural sweetener for home use. Let’s learn about the high-yield cultivation techniques and methods of stevia.

1. Breeding Methods

1. Sowing and raising seedlings

It is divided into spring and autumn. For spring seedling cultivation, you need to choose fertile and moist soil, make beds, prepare culture soil, cover with sawdust or fine cow dung after sowing, and finally cover with agricultural plastic film.

2. Cutting seedlings

It can be carried out from February to October, and insulation is required in early spring and autumn. Choose thick young branches for cuttings, which will have a higher survival rate.

3. Transplanting

Stevia is not very demanding on soil, but fertile and moist soil is preferred. When transplanting, choose seedlings with 3 to 5 true leaves, plant 6,000 to 8,000 plants per acre, and apply sufficient organic fertilizer before transplanting.

2. Field Management

Stevia requires field management like any other crop. During the seedling stage, timely tillage, weeding, soil cultivation and drought resistance should be carried out to protect the seedlings. Attention should be paid to drainage to prevent water accumulation on rainy days. Prevent and control pests such as cutworms and beetles , and deal with diseases such as damping-off, white rot, and leaf spot in a timely manner if discovered. A large amount of fertilizer is required during the growth period, and human feces or urea can be applied. Pay attention to the use of ammonia fertilizer to avoid the impact of ammonia on stevia. Leave a stubble of about 20 cm when harvesting, and apply fertilizer in time after harvesting to promote regeneration.

The above is the method of planting stevia. If you want to plant stevia, you can learn and master the relevant techniques in advance. Do you have any questions about stevia planting?
