How to plant a newly bought cactus

1. Check the plants

After buying a new cactus, you need to carefully peel off the packaging paper first. Check whether there are any wounds on the bottom of the plant. If there are cuts on the roots, place it in a well-ventilated place to dry for a few days. Wait until the wounds are dry before planting. In addition, any rotten or withered roots should be cut off. If possible, it is best to disinfect them to avoid infection.

2. Prepare the soil

Prepare a flower pot of suitable size with drainage holes at the bottom, and fill it with some clean, breathable soil. The flowerpot you use should not be too small as it will hinder the growth of its roots. The soil should not be too sticky, as this will prevent the plant roots from breathing.

3. Planting

Dig a hole in the soil in the flowerpot, then place the purchased cactus into the soil, then cover it with soil. The roots must be covered with soil and the soil around it must be pressed down.

4. Planting and maintenance

After planting, place it in a semi-shaded place, away from direct sunlight, and wait until it recovers before seeing the light. If the soil is too dry, you can water it appropriately, but do not pour water on the cactus, as it will cause rot.
