How to grow bougainvillea

How to grow bougainvillea

1. Maintenance methods

1. Watering: When growing bougainvillea, watering is very important. Too much water or lack of water is not good for the growth of the plant. Try to wait until the soil is completely dry before adding water, and water it thoroughly. When it is about to bloom and during the flowering period, pay attention to water control.

2. Temperature: The temperature suitable for plant growth is between 15-30℃, and the temperature should not be too high or too low. When the temperature is higher than 35℃, you must take cooling measures; when the temperature is lower than 5℃, you must move the plants indoors.

3. Fertilization: Fertilize once every 7-10 days during the months of vigorous growth, which is from April to July. The plant will bloom more if there are enough nutrients in the potting soil. Fertilizers can be soybean cake or rapeseed cake water. After it enters the flowering period, phosphorus fertilizer should be applied once every half a month.

4. Light: It is a plant that likes sunlight, so it must be given a certain amount of light every day. If the growing environment does not see sunlight, not only will its growth be poor, but it may also not bloom. In winter, place it in front of a window with light.

2. Breeding Methods

Generally, the cutting method is used, which is not only simple to operate but also easy to grow seedlings. It is best to do it in May or June. Cut off 20cm of mature branches. The selected branches should be strong enough and not be damaged by diseases or insects. Insert it into the potting soil and make sure the humidity is maintained. It will take about a month to take root.
