How to care for orchids when repotting

1. Prepare soil and prune roots

When repotting, you should prepare a clean, breathable growing medium and disinfect it before use. Remove the plant from the pot, remove the soil around the roots, and rinse with clean water. Use disinfected cleaning tools to cut off dead and rotten roots. If there are roots that are too long, cut them off as well.

2. Disinfection and Sterilization

When repotting, there will definitely be wounds on the roots of the plant, because root pruning is usually done in conjunction with repotting. If there is a wound, disinfection and sterilization must be done. You can apply fungicides on the incision, otherwise the bacteria will harm the plant.

3. Replanting

When planting, hold the orchid with one hand and cover the soil with one hand. When the soil covers the roots of the plant, slowly lift it up to allow its roots to stretch, and finally cover it with soil. If the roots are directly buried with thick soil, it may hinder the plant's recovery to a certain extent.

4. Post-maintenance

After planting the plants, if the soil is moist, there is no need to water them first. If the soil is dry, you can spray water appropriately to keep a certain degree of moisture, but do not overwater. After planting, it should be placed in a cool and ventilated place and not exposed to direct sunlight immediately.
