Rose cutting method and time

Rose cutting method and time

1. Cutting time

Its cuttings are mainly carried out in spring and autumn, specifically between April to May and September to October. The temperature during these two time periods is more suitable, which is more conducive to the rooting and later growth of cuttings. When planting, just use living young shoots as cuttings. In addition, it can also be carried out at the turn of winter and spring, when hard branches should be used as cuttings.

2. Live bud cuttings

Choose disease-free branches and leaves grown in the current year. After the flowering period, clean up the remaining flowers and old leaves on them. After the nutrients are sufficient, cut them into small sections of about centimeters long as cuttings. Remember to remove most of the leaves on top, leaving only two small pieces at the base. Then dip the cut in rooting powder and insert it into the soil. Don't plant the seeds too deep, just two-thirds of the way into the soil, leaving two small buds outside. When new leaves grow, the cuttings are successful.

3. Hardwood cuttings

Choose healthy branches and cut them into small pieces of ten centimeters long. The processing and cutting methods are similar to the live bud method. After planting, water it thoroughly in time, build a frame, and then cover it with plastic film to keep it warm and moist. The film can be removed in spring. When the leaves turn green, it means the roots have grown well and can be transplanted.
