What to do if tulip leaves turn yellow?

What to do if tulip leaves turn yellow?

1. Increase lighting

Tulips are long-day plants and their growth cannot be separated from sufficient light. If the environment is dark, the plant cannot carry out photosynthesis to synthesize nutrients, so it will grow poorly and cause the leaves to turn yellow. Usually, you should place it in a sunny place so that it can receive sunlight throughout the day. If the light is too strong, you also need to provide adequate shade to avoid sunburn.

2. Lower the temperature

Tulips prefer a mild climate. If the temperature is too high, the plant's water will be lost quickly, causing the leaves to turn yellow. In this case, you need to spray it with water appropriately to absorb heat through water evaporation to lower its temperature. In addition, good ventilation should be maintained, which can also speed up evaporation and avoid the environment being too humid.

3. Control watering

Tulip bulbs are afraid of waterlogging. Once they are watered too much, they will rot, which will affect the roots of the plants. Do not water too much in daily life. Keep it moist before germination, use less water after emergence, and keep the soil slightly dry during flowering. If you don't water enough, the plant's growth will slow down.

4. Supplemental fertilizer

Tulips require fertilizer to grow. Insufficient nutrients will cause yellow leaves, so they generally need to be fertilized in time. When the plants are first planted, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied. Usually dry chicken manure or well-rotted compost should be used. After the plants grow leaves, liquid fertilizer can be applied. During the peak growing season, compound fertilizer should be applied every 7-10 days. Fertilizer needs to be stopped during the flowering period, and potassium dihydrogen phosphate should be applied after flowering.
