How to plant crabapple trees

How to plant crabapple trees

1. Choose a pot

When planting crabapple trees, oval or rectangular pots are usually used. If it is a cliff-style plant, deep cylindrical pots should be used. The best material is a purple clay pot or a glazed clay pot, which has good air permeability and drainage, and is more conducive to later growth.

2. Use soil

It is not very demanding on soil quality; slightly acidic or neutral soil is fine. However, it would be better to use leaf mold that is well-drained, loose and fertile. In addition, a layer of vermiculite should be laid at the bottom before potting to improve drainage.

3. Planting

Planting can be done in spring or autumn, preferably during the dormant period. Trim the thick and long roots before burying them in the soil. The roots cannot be allowed to spiral, but should be fully stretched out before covering with soil. After planting, water it thoroughly in time, place it in a cool place for half a month, and then move it to a place with good light.

IV. Management

During later management, you should pay attention to placing it in a sunny place so that the plant can get more light and grow more vigorously. However, it is necessary to provide shade or avoid strong sunlight in summer to avoid burning the plants. Don't water too frequently. Wait until the soil in the pot is dry before watering. Don't water if it's not dry. In addition, appropriate amounts of fertilizer should be applied during the growing season, especially after flowering, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied to replenish nutrients in a timely manner.
