How Aloe Queen reproduces

How Aloe Queen reproduces

Seed propagation of Aloe Queen

Aloe Queen is different from ordinary aloe plants. It cannot reproduce asexually. It can only be self-pollinated after the Aloe Queen blooms, and the seeds collected can be sown and planted.

However, not all the seeds obtained are active, and if the seeds are dormant, they cannot reproduce. The former is an uncontrollable factor, and the latter is a controllable factor.

When sowing, first dig a small hole about 5 cm in the potting soil or a hole as deep as the seeds, fill the hole with water and wait for the water to penetrate, then bury the fertilizer and seeds in the soil.

Seed dormancy can be broken by treating them with a cold and wet layer, and liquids such as alcohol and hydrogen peroxide can be used to increase the air permeability of the seeds, but this will not increase the germination rate.

In 1995, the Huntington Botanical Gardens completed the artificial pollination of Aloe Queen, which increased the seed yield and made it easier to sow and reproduce Aloe Queen.

Vegetative reproduction of Aloe Queen

Vegetative reproduction is a type of artificial vegetative reproduction. This method can retain the excellent traits of the mother to the greatest extent. If the aloe queen in your home has strong vitality, you can use this method of reproduction.

This method of reproduction is to select a part of the rhizome with stronger growth activity of Aloe Queen and place it in a specific nutrient solution or nutrient soil.

Because it is too difficult to obtain the seeds of Aloe Queen, the price of Aloe Queen potted plants is very high, and even the price of one seed is around 10 euros. Therefore, the editor reminds everyone that if you have a pot of Aloe Queen at home, you must cherish its seeds.
