How to grow gladiolus

How to grow gladiolus

1. Breeding environment

1. Light: During maintenance, it is necessary to provide light throughout the day, and ensure more than 14 hours of light every day, so that it can grow and bloom well. However, you should also pay attention to blocking strong light to avoid strong ultraviolet rays that may burn the leaves.

2. Soil: When planting in pots, use acidic soil that is breathable and contains organic matter. It must not be too sticky. In addition, remember to disinfect at high temperature first to prevent the presence of insect eggs.

3. Temperature: It is suitable for growing at temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees. It neither likes high temperatures nor is it cold-resistant. The high temperature cannot exceed 35 degrees, otherwise it will grow slowly. The temperature in winter should be above 10 degrees to avoid frostbite.

4. Watering: During the maintenance period, water when the soil is dry and when it is wet. There is no need to add water frequently. Once water accumulates, root rot is likely to occur, so pay attention to the amount of water.

2. Common pests and diseases

Various diseases are easily caused during maintenance, the most common of which are mosaic disease, dry rot, leaf spot and gray mold. These symptoms mainly manifest themselves on the leaves and can be clearly seen when the disease occurs. The diseased parts must be picked off in time and burned to avoid spread. In addition, corresponding medicines should be sprayed for thorough prevention and control, and attention should be paid to ventilation during later maintenance.
