How to cultivate wild peony

How to cultivate wild peony

1. Soil

When breeding, use loose, fertile and slightly alkaline soil, which can be prepared by mixing peat soil, garden soil and leaf mold. When potting, lay a layer of coarse sand and tiles at the bottom to improve drainage, and add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer to provide nutrients, so that it can grow well.

2. Watering

After planting, water it thoroughly in time, and add water in the later stage according to the specific dry and wet conditions to keep the potting soil moist. It is very afraid of waterlogging and cannot be watered too much at one time, otherwise it will affect the root breathing and cause root rot.

3. Temperature

It is not only resistant to high temperatures, but also has a certain degree of cold resistance, so there is no need to worry about the temperature. It has a wide adaptability and can survive well in both winter and summer.

4. Fertilization

It does not require much fertilizer. After applying enough base fertilizer before planting, no additional fertilizer is needed for a long time. After one year of maintenance, fertilizer should be applied once each in the spring, summer and autumn growing seasons. The main fertilizers should be decomposed manure or compound fertilizer.

5. Notes

Proper pruning is required during the maintenance period, and sick and weak branches and excess branches should be cut off in spring every year to concentrate nutrients. After the flowering period, the remaining flowers should be cut off in time to save nutrients and promote recovery. In addition, the pot should be changed once every one or two years, which can be done in spring and autumn. When repotting, you should combine it with pruning, mainly targeting the root system, cutting off old roots and excessively long roots.
