How to judge whether potted begonias need watering

How to judge whether potted begonias need watering

1. View Method

The easiest way is to check the color of the soil. If the color of the soil in the pot becomes whiter and lighter, it proves that the soil is dry and you can water it. On the contrary, if the soil in the pot is very dark in color, do not water it again. You can also observe the condition of the branches and leaves before watering. If they have become wilted, it must be that the soil in the pot is too dry and you need to water it as soon as possible.

2. Tapping method

Tap the wall of the pot lightly with your hands or a wooden stick. If the sound is very dull, the soil is still relatively moist and you don't need to water it yet. If the knocking sound is very crisp, it means that the soil in the pot has dried up long ago and needs to be watered in time. Or you can lightly lift the flower pot. If it is heavy, it means there is still moisture in the pot.

3. Wooden stick test

Before watering it, you can test it with a wooden stick. Insert the dry stick into the soil, wait for a few minutes and take it out. If the stick is moist, there is no need to water it. If it is still dry after taking it out, it means it is time to water it. You can also insert your finger into the soil. If the soil feels loose, it means you don't need to water it for the time being. On the contrary, if the soil is hard and rough, it means that the soil in the pot is very dry.
