How to grow northern banyan bonsai? Is it easy to grow in winter?

1. Breeding environment

1. Temperature

Banyan trees are not cold-resistant. The temperature in winter is too low, so they must be moved indoors in time for maintenance and insulation measures must be taken. The temperature should be kept above 5 degrees. If it is below 3 degrees, leaves will fall, and if it is below 0 degrees, frost damage will occur. During normal maintenance, it is best to maintain the temperature between 15 and 20 degrees. In addition, be careful not to have too large a temperature difference between morning and evening.

2. Watering

It does not require much water to grow, the soil in the pot just needs to be slightly moist. The amount of water can be increased appropriately during the growing season, but watering should be reduced in winter. Do not water if the soil in the pot is not dry. Wait until the soil is dry before watering again. Watering is strictly prohibited. In addition, the temperature in the north is too low in winter, so it is best to water the plants in the afternoon when the temperature is higher, so that the water temperature is as close to the room temperature as possible.

3. Fertilization

Spring and autumn are its growing seasons, and fertilizer should be applied frequently to supplement nutrients in these two seasons. When the temperature drops in late autumn, you should reduce the amount of fertilization, especially stop fertilizing after winter. Because growth has almost stopped in this season, there is no need to supplement nutrients, otherwise they will not be absorbed and will cause fertilizer damage.

2. Is it easy to keep in winter?

It is a plant that is not cold-resistant, so it is indeed difficult to grow in winter compared to the other three seasons, but it can still survive safely as long as the method is correct. When caring for it in winter, keep it warm in time and move it indoors. You should also reduce watering and keep the soil in the pot dry to help the plant survive the winter. In addition, stop fertilizing to avoid fertilizer damage.
