Cultivation methods and precautions of wolfberry bonsai

Wolfberry bonsai is a hardy and easy-to-grow flower plant. Its trunk is thick and strong, and its vitality is very strong. Generally, its lifespan is longer, up to a hundred years. It is not afraid of cold or heat, and is not afraid of destruction. It is easy to cultivate and manage, and is very suitable for potted cultivation at home.

Cultivation method of wolfberry bonsai

1. Soil

When cultivating wolfberry bonsai, you must first choose the right soil. Wolfberry itself is a plant that does not have high requirements for soil. Generally speaking, select some clean, bacteria-free humus soil and garden soil, mix them in a 1:1 ratio, and then mix in a small amount of river sand to get a potting soil suitable for its growth.

2. Planting pots

When making bonsai, you cannot skip the selection of planting pots. The root system of wolfberry itself is relatively developed, so it is best to choose a flowerpot with a certain depth, while also ensuring that it has good air permeability. Generally speaking, you can choose a ceramic pot for cultivation, or you can choose a more expensive purple clay pot.

3. Lighting

Wolfberry itself is a shade-tolerant plant, but it cannot lack light. More sun exposure will allow it to bear more fruits and look better when viewing. However, it should be noted that the summer sun will burn it, so it is necessary to use shade nets and other baffles to provide shade in time.

4. Fertilization

Generally speaking, if the wolfberry has just been potted, it is enough to mix some base fertilizer into the soil in the early stage. Wait until the potted plant has grown stably for 3 months before applying other fertilizers.

Precautions for the maintenance of wolfberry bonsai

1. Pay attention to the transplanting season

Generally speaking, wolfberry bonsai needs to be repotted and transplanted regularly. It is best to choose to transplant in spring. At this time, the wolfberry sap has not yet flowed, and planting will not affect the growth of the bonsai, and new branches and leaves will soon grow.

2. Pay attention to tree stump treatment

The stump of wolfberry bonsai also needs to be repaired regularly to trim the old, weak and messy roots. If necessary, the excessively long roots can be shortened. Make sure the incision is smooth. After pruning, sterilize and disinfect.
