Cultivation methods and precautions of Ye Lan

Leaf orchid is an ornamental plant that is relatively easy to grow. Because it is a green plant that is relatively shade-tolerant, it can generally grow well even when there is not much light indoors. However, it will look better if it receives some light from time to time.

How to cultivate Yelan

1. Lighting

Ye Lan itself has a strong adaptability to the environment and has good shade tolerance and cold resistance. However, if conditions permit, it is better to cultivate it in a bright indoor place for a long time, or it can be moved to a semi-shaded place outdoors after the spring. It should be noted that it cannot be exposed to the sun in summer.

2. Temperature

When the leaf orchid grows new leaves in spring, be sure to give it a warm growing environment. If it is grown in the north, you can move it indoors before winter and control its growth temperature below 25°C to prevent the room temperature from becoming too high due to heating and causing the leaves to lose their luster.

3. Fertilization

In spring and summer, the two seasons when leaf orchids grow vigorously, it is best to use more decomposed cake fertilizer or soil fertilizer to fertilize. Generally speaking, it is sufficient to apply fertilizer once every 10-15 days.

4. Flower Pots

It is best to grow the leaf orchid in a clay pot. This kind of pot has very good air permeability and water permeability, so the leaf orchid's roots will not rot. Secondly, it should be noted that the pot should be a deeper one so that the leaf orchid's roots can stretch better.

5. Soil

It is best to choose sufficiently loose and fertile soil for growing leaf orchids, which is more in line with the growth needs of leaf orchids. Also, the soil where it takes root should be slightly acidic. You can choose to mix leaf mold, river sand, and mountain ash to make flower soil for use.

Precautions for Yelan maintenance

1. Moisture

The leaf orchid needs to regularly remove dust from its leaves and keep them moist, so you should spray some water mist with a spray bottle or wipe them with a wet cloth. If the surrounding air is relatively dry, you can also spray a small amount of water on the leaves and the ground.

2. Diseases

The disease that leaf orchids are most likely to suffer from is anthracnose. At first, brown will spread from the tip of the leaf to the root of the stem. As the disease worsens, black spots will appear intermittently, eventually leading to the death of the plant. Therefore, after noticing the symptoms, you should use a spray with a lower concentration of pesticide, spraying once a week until the plant is intact.
