Garlic is a widely cultivated vegetable . It is not only commonly grown in the north, but also in the south. Many friends have encountered the problem of garlic not sprouting. So how many days does it take for garlic to sprout? How many days does it take for garlic to sprout? It usually takes about 7 days for garlic to germinate after planting . Garlic sowing precautions 1. Do not sow in high temperatures As we all know, garlic is a cool-loving vegetable that can only germinate and grow easily when the weather is cool. In the early stage of sowing, in order to promote garlic germination, the temperature should not be too high. The most suitable temperature range is 12℃ to 20℃. If the temperature exceeds 30℃, the germination of garlic will be hindered, resulting in the garlic not germinating after sowing. In addition, strong sunlight can overheat the soil, and the garlic buried in the soil may be suffocated, causing the entire garlic to die and fail to germinate. Therefore, if the temperature in your area is high, the daytime temperature exceeds 30°C, and the sunlight is strong, it is recommended not to plant for the time being, and wait until after the White Dew and Autumnal Equinox. If you must plant it, you can first germinate the garlic seeds in a cool place, and then sow them after the garlic seeds grow small sprouts, and take appropriate sun protection measures. 2. Prevent flooding after sowing Many people are rather casual when planting garlic and directly insert the garlic into the soil. Although it can grow, there are some problems. First, the soil is not thick enough to withstand exposure to the sun and drought; second, it is prone to flooding, which can cause the garlic to rot. Therefore, when sowing garlic, we need to consider the problems of drought and flooding and take preventive measures in advance. An effective preventive measure is to plant in ridges and form ditches. The ridges can accommodate the accumulated water caused by heavy rain in a short period of time and drain it quickly to prevent rainwater from submerging the garlic seeds for a long time. At the same time, the soil on the ridges is thicker, which can store a large amount of water, prevent rapid evaporation of water, and promote rapid growth of garlic. 3. Deep sowing and shallow covering When planting garlic in ridges, many people think that they can simply stick the garlic bulbs directly into the soil at the top of the ridge, but this is not actually the case. The purpose of ridge planting is not only to prevent flooding, but also to increase the thickness of the planting soil layer. This advantage is completely wasted if the garlic bulbs are simply inserted into the soil at the top of the ridge. Therefore, before sowing garlic, it is best to dig several trenches at a certain interval on the top of the ridge, with a depth of 20 to 25 cm, then sprinkle half of the trench with plant compost, cover it with a little soil, plant the garlic seeds in it, and cover it with soil at the same time. The covering soil should not be too thick, it only needs to slightly cover the garlic seeds, which is conducive to the germination of garlic, and the seedlings can emerge in as fast as 7 days. After sowing in this way, grooves will form on the top of the ridges. Don't worry about this, as the grooves will facilitate subsequent watering and fertilization. After the garlic seeds germinate, you can apply fertilizer regularly and build up the soil appropriately until the ridges are closed. Doing a good job of pre-sowing preparation can increase the germination rate of garlic and ensure that the garlic can germinate smoothly in about 7 days after planting.
