Time for cutting of Pennisetum odoratum

The time for cuttings of Pogostemon cablin is from May to October every year. Usually, cuttings can be carried out when the temperature is above 15 degrees. If there is no time, cuttings can also be carried out in summer or winter. However, during these two periods, the temperature must be controlled between 15-25℃, which is more conducive to the survival of the cuttings.

How to propagate the plant by cuttings

1. Prepare the soil: Pogostemon cablin is suitable for growing in loose and well-drained soil, and it is very easy to survive by cuttings. You can prepare leaf mold, peat, and perlite, and mix them evenly in a ratio of 6:2:2 as a cutting medium.

2. Choose cuttings: prepare a well-growing pennywort, select strong and disease-free branches, pinch them off from the roots, cut off about 5-8 cm, cut off excess leaves, keep 2-3 leaves, then disinfect the branches with disinfectant solution, and place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry for later use.

3. Cutting method: Before cutting the petal, you can use a wooden stick to poke a few holes in the substrate, keeping the distance between them at 3-5 cm and the hole depth at 2-4 cm. Then insert the treated cuttings into the holes and compact the soil. Do not water during the rooting period and it will take about 10 days to take root.
