How to plant yam in pots after it sprouts

If the yam sprouts, it cannot be eaten, but after processing, it can be used for planting. The part of the yam with sprouts can be cut into small pieces, planted in the soil, and then covered with a layer of soil. The thickness of the soil should only be enough to cover the yam. Newly planted yam should be properly shaded to avoid exposure to the sun, which will affect the survival rate.

After the yam sprouts, it takes 5-7 months for the potted plant to bear fruit. This is because the growth cycle of yam is relatively long and it takes 5-7 months to harvest. The growth cycle of yam has four stages, namely the germination stage, seedling stage, plant growth stage, and tuber stage.

How to plant the yam when it sprouts

1. Water-grown sweet potato potted plants

Collect the sprouted yam, wash them in clean water, then pour half a bottle of water into a larger container, place the sprouted yam in the container and fix it, half of it in water and half in the air. After 14 days of maintenance, the yam will grow faster and faster. You can prune the branches and buds appropriately to improve the ornamental value, and let the yam receive light and maintain it in a place with scattered light.

2. Soil-grown yam potted plants

Yam has a strong vitality. Cut off the sprouted part of the yam, and then plant it in loose, fertile soil with strong drainage. Water it thoroughly, and then place it in a cool place with scattered light such as a windowsill for maintenance.
