Kiwi fruit, also known as kiwi fruit, fox peach, vine pear, and monkey pear, is a plant of the genus Actinidia in the family Actinidiaceae. It is rich in various nutrients and is widely grown in southern China. When planting kiwi fruit, you must choose the right time and place, and master the planting techniques to allow the plants to thrive. Kiwi seedling planting method1. Planting time The southern region is relatively warm and there is basically no freezing in winter. It is best to plant kiwi seedlings during the rainy season in autumn. In the northern region, kiwi seedlings are generally planted during their dormant period, that is, before March in early spring or before kiwi seedlings sprout after falling leaves. 2. Land preparation and fertilization Land preparation is generally carried out after rain when the soil is relatively loose. Farmyard manure is applied as base fertilizer during deep plowing. After deep plowing, drainage ditches with a depth and width of about 30 cm and a row spacing of about 3 meters are dug. The excavated soil is piled in the middle of the ridge to make a tile-back shape with low sides and a high middle. 3. Choose saplings The kiwifruit seedlings selected for planting must have a quarantine certificate to avoid introducing seedlings with quarantine pests and diseases. Many kiwifruit plantations have been infected with canker and root-knot nematode diseases due to seedlings. These two diseases can cause large-scale infection and are incurable. In severe cases, they can destroy the plantation. 4. Planting method Because kiwifruit is a dioecious plant, pollination is done by male trees and fruiting is done by female trees, so when planting, male and female trees need to be evenly dispersed in a ratio of 1:6 or 1:8, maintaining a plant spacing of 3 meters and a row spacing of 4 meters. Key points for planting kiwi seedlingsKiwifruit prefers a humid environment but cannot tolerate waterlogging. When building a new orchard, it is necessary to consider sufficient water sources and drainage during the rainy season. It is not suitable to grow kiwifruit in areas with insufficient water sources or low terrain and poor drainage. |
