What fertilizer to use for chives

What fertilizer to use for chives

When growing leeks, apply sufficient amount of decomposed organic fertilizer in March and June each year, mix the fertilizer with the soil evenly, and be careful not to sprinkle the fertilizer directly on the roots of the leeks to avoid fertilizer damage.

Fertilizer for chives

Chives have a relatively high demand for nitrogen fertilizer. Since chives have a strong tolerance to fertilizer, when applying fertilizer, nitrogen fertilizer is mainly used. During the growth period of chives, the use of nitrogen fertilizer can increase the yield of the plant and improve the quality of non-vegetables. If insufficient nitrogen fertilizer is applied, the yield and quality of non-vegetables will be affected. During the growth of chives, potassium sulfate compound fertilizer needs to be applied once a week to meet the chives' needs for nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Note that after applying the fertilizer, you cannot water immediately to avoid root rot of the chives.

Fertilization method of chives

In order to meet the needs of leeks for phosphorus and calcium, phosphorus bar needs to be applied to leeks once every quarter to promote flowering and fruiting of the plants. It is usually applied before flowering. The time for fertilization should be chosen in the afternoon on a sunny day. Before planting, farmyard manure water needs to be evenly sprinkled on the plot, and the soil needs to be plowed to allow the fertilizer to be evenly distributed in the soil. Farmyard manure not only contains rich nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, but also has long-lasting nutrients and is not prone to fertilizer damage. It is an ideal fertilizer for growing leeks.
