Cultivation methods and precautions of hydroponic bamboo cypress

Cultivation methods and precautions of hydroponic bamboo cypress

Bamboo cypress is a very easy-to-grow plant with relatively simple maintenance methods. It is not only shade-tolerant but also can purify the air. The leaves of bamboo cypress look very similar to those of bamboo, but its leaves are greener, thicker, and more shiny.

Cultivation method of hydroponic bamboo cypress

1. Lighting

Bamboo cypress cannot be exposed to strong light, but it can accept scattered light. It is suitable for growing on indoor balconies or sunny places near windows. It is best not to grow it in a completely shaded environment, which is not conducive to photosynthesis of the plant leaves.

2. Soil

Bamboo cypress likes loose, fertile, humus-rich soil. You can use perlite, humus, and sandy soil, mixed evenly in a ratio of 3:3:4 as culture soil, and add 5-8 grains of organic compound fertilizer.

3. Moisture

The bamboo cypress can be watered after the soil in the pot is completely dry, and watered thoroughly at one time to avoid water accumulation. The frequency of watering can be increased during the high temperatures in summer, but it is not advisable to water at noon, otherwise it will easily cause root rot.

4. Fertilization

During the growing season, bamboo cypress needs to be fertilized every 20-30 days. You can choose nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizers, and apply thin fertilizers frequently. The concentration of fertilizers should be controlled well, as too high a concentration can easily cause fertilizer damage.

Precautions for the maintenance of hydroponic bamboo cypress

Pay attention to the temperature when growing bamboo cypress in water. The suitable temperature for its growth is 18-26 degrees. In summer, it is best to grow it in semi-shade. In winter, move it to a warm place indoors or outdoors for maintenance. If the temperature is below 10 degrees, bamboo cypress will easily be frostbitten.
