Are cherry trees waterlogged?

Cherry trees are not tolerant to waterlogging. They prefer sunlight, a moist but dry growing environment, and avoid waterlogging, so do not water them too much during the growing process.

Are cherry trees afraid of flooding?

Cherry trees are afraid of waterlogging. The roots of cherry trees are shallow, so they should not be planted in low-lying areas with stagnant water. They should be planted high to avoid being flooded and drowned.

Cherry trees can drown. Their roots breathe vigorously. If the orchard's drainage system is not sound, water will accumulate in the tree base and the roots will be soaked in water for a long time, which will inevitably lead to necrosis and rot, and in severe cases, death of the trees.

What to do if the cherry tree is flooded

Timely drainage: Compared with other tree species, cherry seedlings are most afraid of waterlogging. For forests with serious waterlogging, it is recommended to dig drainage ditches to drain the accumulated water from the forest in time; if necessary, carry out inter-cultivation and loosening of the soil to accelerate the evaporation of water in the soil and increase its air permeability.

Reasonable pruning: Cut off withered branches, overgrown branches, overlapping branches and branches with diseases and insect pests, keep strong branches, and remove excessive and dense branches and inner branches to facilitate ventilation and light transmission. The cuts of pruned branches should be disinfected with medicine in time to avoid pathogens from invading and rotting after rain. Guoguang wound healing coating can be used for treatment.

Pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases and pests: On the one hand, cherry blossoms are most susceptible to leaf brown spot disease and root nodule disease in rainy seasons; on the other hand, high temperature and exposure to the sun can easily cause aging and damage to the cherry bark, causing rot. The damaged and rotten parts should be cleaned and disinfected in time, and the rotten parts should be wrapped with leaf mold and charcoal powder.
