The difference between Cosmos and Gesang flower

The difference between Cosmos and Gesang flower

1. Plant Differences

Cosmos has thin upright stems with many branches, and the stems are very smooth or have slight hairs. The leaves are simple and opposite, about 10 cm long, bipinnate, with narrow linear lobes, and the leaves have entire margins and no teeth.

Gesang flowers are 1 to 2 meters tall, with stems that are glabrous or slightly pubescent. The leaves are deeply pinnately divided twice, with the lobes being linear or filiform-linear.

2. Flower Differences

The inflorescence of Cosmos is terminal or axillary, with a pedicel 5 to 8 cm long, two layers of bracts, ligulate flowers, and serrated front ends of the petals. There are 8 petals in white, crimson and pink. The tubular flowers in the central part of the disk are yellow.

The gesang flower head inflorescence grows alone at the top of the branch, with a diameter of 3 to 6 cm and a peduncle length of 6 to 18 cm. The ligulate flowers are purple-red, white or pink, with elliptical-obovate tongues, 2 to 3 cm long and 1.2 to 1.8 cm wide. The flowers are tubular, yellow in color, and 6 to 8 mm long.
