Where are citrus fruits grown?

The growth habits of citrus are relatively easy to understand. It likes to grow in a high temperature and very humid subtropical climate environment. Citrus is not very cold-resistant and has some shade tolerance. For citrus, 15℃ is the effective germination temperature, and 23-27℃ is the most suitable growth temperature. If the temperature is higher than 37℃, growth will stop, and if the temperature is lower than -5℃, it will cause frost damage.

Citrus Origin

Globally, my country is one of the important origins of citrus. There are 985 regions in the country where citrus is grown, among which the main citrus producing areas are Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangxi, Hubei, Guangdong, Taiwan and other 10 provinces, cities and districts.

Although citrus is produced in many places, it is actually a specialty of Binchuan County, Yunnan Province. The citrus produced in this area is a very famous citrus variety. This citrus has the high-quality characteristics of long market time, high yield, and large fruit.

Where do citrus grow?

In my country, citrus mainly grows in areas between 16° and 37° north latitude, from Hainan Province in the south to Shaanxi, Gansu and Henan in the north, from Taiwan Province in the east to Tibet Autonomous Region in the west. Citrus is also widely distributed in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and in the areas south of the Yangtze River, and there are also some citrus varieties in the areas south of the Qinling Mountains.

Citrus market time

Citrus is a seasonal fruit unique to autumn. Generally speaking, November is the peak period for citrus to mature. If it is a late-ripening variety of citrus, their ripening period can last until around April of the following year. In addition, depending on the planting conditions, the ripening time of citrus will also vary.
