How to deal with water lilies after they bloom

Water lily post-flowering treatment

1. Pruning

After flowering, water lilies need to be pruned. Cut off the remaining flowers of the plant, and you can cut them together with the flower stems, and then disinfect the wounds.

2. Fertilization

After flowering, water lilies need to be replenished with nutrients in time. If you want to apply solid fertilizer, you can wrap it with absorbent paper, then poke a few holes in it, and place it in water to allow the fertilizer to be released slowly.

How to grow water lilies

Water lilies generally bloom only once a year, from June to August each year. The flowering time starts at 12 noon and lasts until about 3 pm, and will bloom again the next day.

1. Clean water

Water lily is an aquatic plant. If you want the plant to bloom successfully, you must ensure that the water quality is clean and change the water regularly. The water level should be around 25-30 cm deep.

2. Adequate lighting

Water lily is a light-loving plant. If you want it to bloom successfully, it is best to place it in a sunny location so that the plant can receive sufficient light, which can accumulate more nutrients for flowering.

3. Suitable temperature

Water lilies prefer a warm growing environment. If you want them to bloom successfully, the most suitable growth temperature is 25-30℃. Weather that is too cold or too hot will affect the flowering of the plant.
