In fact, if you want to grow orchids well, the application of foliar fertilizer is essential. Based on my experience in growing orchids, potassium dihydrogen phosphate inorganic fertilizer should be sprayed on the leaves in a light and frequent manner. As the flower proverb says: "Clear orchids, turbid jasmine." When spraying foliar fertilizer on orchids, you should supply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium nutrients. The simplest preparation method is: add 1 gram of potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 1 gram of ammonium sulfate to 3 liters of water, and the concentration is slightly higher than 1500 times the liquid. When preparing, be sure to wait until the first fertilizer is completely dissolved before adding the second fertilizer. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate can provide orchids with phosphorus and potassium, and ammonium sulfate can provide orchids with nitrogen. If you are spraying potassium dihydrogen phosphate foliar fertilizer alone, you can prepare a 1500~3000 times solution; if you are watering in an orchid pot, you should prepare a 500 times solution. When spraying foliar fertilizer on orchids, the leaves should be sprayed with clean water once the next day to avoid over-fertilization and excessive accumulation of fertilizer on the leaves, which may cause fertilizer burn. As for how often to apply potassium dihydrogen phosphate for a good effect, it should be determined according to the growth of the orchid. If the orchid plants are growing vigorously, you can spray foliar fertilizer once every 7 to 10 days ; if the orchid seedlings are growing weakly, it is advisable to spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate once every 10 to 15 days. Orchid lovers should be reminded that: fertilizing orchids should be stopped during the flowering period; in the later period after flowering, after the semi-dormancy ends, about 5 to 7 days, post-flowering fertilizer should be applied; but foliar fertilizer should generally not be applied during the winter dormancy period. In addition, in summer and autumn, when the temperature is above 32°C, orchids have stopped growing and fertilizing is harmful rather than helpful. In short, the scientific and reasonable application of potassium dihydrogen phosphate can not only promote the growth and development of orchids, but also has a good effect on improving the stress resistance of orchid seedlings. When applying potassium dihydrogen phosphate compound fertilizer to orchids, the timing should be controlled according to the needs of the orchids at different growth and development stages, as well as temperature, light and seasonal changes. Generally speaking, potassium dihydrogen phosphate should be sprayed in the morning or evening when the temperature is low and the humidity is high. If the temperature is too high, it will dry out easily, which is not conducive to the absorption of orchids and can easily cause fertilizer damage to the leaves. |
