How to judge whether it is time to water the Clivia① First, insert the pot soil feeling method Use your fingers to dig 5 to 6 centimeters below the surface of the soil in the pot and touch the soil. If the soil feels still moist and fine and soft, it means that the middle and lower part of the soil in the pot is still moist, and you don't need to water it. If you feel that the soil in the pot is a bit dry or rough, it means that the soil in the pot is dry and you should water the Clivia immediately. ② Secondly, the flower pot soil weighing method Before watering, use a small electronic scale to weigh the flower pot and soil, and keep a record; weigh them again after watering. After a few days, if you observe a change in the color of the soil on the surface of the pot, you can weigh the soil in the pot and compare the data to determine whether the Clivia should be watered. This method is more troublesome, and I usually use the first method to make a judgment. Things to note when watering Clivia(1) Clivia has fleshy roots and prefers fertile sandy loam with good air permeability. In the northern regions, you should pay attention to "water control" in winter. You can go without watering for ten days to half a month and place the plant on a sunny balcony. When watering, be sure to water it when the plant is dry and wet. If the water remains stagnant for a long time and does not dry up, it will cause root rot. Although it cannot be seen on the surface, it will affect the flowering of the Clivia. (2) When watering Clivia with a watering can, remember not to lift the can too high . Instead, pour the water directly into the soil along the edge of the pot. Also, do not pour water on the leaves, especially the center leaves. Otherwise, it is very easy to cause the core or leaf rot. (3) During the summer, special care should be taken to keep the potted Clivia in a cool and ventilated place. The surrounding environment should be sprayed with water or placed in a shallow basin of water frequently, and the leaves should also be sprayed to increase the relative humidity of the environment and reduce the temperature. When spraying water on the leaves, remember not to let the water flow into the center leaves to prevent heart rot and seedling rot. (4) Although the amount of watering in summer should be more than in other seasons, the principle of "not watering unless the soil is dry, and watering thoroughly" should be adhered to. At the same time, you should also be careful not to wait until the soil in the pot is completely dry before watering, as this will easily lead to empty roots and shrivel, damaging the roots of the Clivia . The correct approach is to water the plant when the soil in the pot is half dry, so that the soil in the pot is always moist. |
