How to grow loofah in a pot on the balcony

Nowadays, many families like to grow some vegetables on the balcony. Loofah has the effect of clearing away heat and fire, cooling and detoxifying. It is very delicious and is loved by many people. In fact, it can be planted on the balcony. Here I will share with you some simple planting techniques.

1. Basin

To plant loofah on the balcony, you first need to prepare the right pots. You can use old flower pots, foam boxes, wooden boxes, or plastic buckets.

Usually, the depth of deep plowing should be more than 40 cm. The larger the pot, the better, and it should contain enough soil to meet the growth of loofah .

Generally, you can plant it with garden soil and add some basal fertilizer, such as animal manure, to mix it in. This can provide long-term basal fertilizer for the later growth of loofah.

2. Growth space

When planting loofah on the balcony, you must consider its growing space . Loofah is different from other vegetables. It is a climbing plant and needs a certain support for it to climb, so your balcony must have enough space for it to grow in order to plant loofah in pots.

3. Seedling cultivation

It is actually not difficult to grow loofah seedlings. You just need to plant them with seeds. Dig a hole in the soil, put in 2 or 3 seeds, then cover them with 1 or 2 cm of soil, and then water them appropriately. Generally, new seedlings will germinate and grow in about 7 days.

After the new seedlings grow out, care for them normally and transplant them when they have more than 4 leaves. Remove the weak and diseased seedlings and leave the strongest seedlings. Plant one seedling in each hole .

4. Maintenance and management

After the new seedlings are transplanted, they need to be properly maintained and managed, giving the loofah sufficient light and suitable temperature. The loofah likes sufficient light, is resistant to high temperatures, and is not resistant to low temperatures. Generally, it grows best in an environment of 25 to 30 degrees. Watering should be maintained adequately, as the loofah requires a lot of water for growth .

5. Support, pinching and fertilization

When the loofah grows to a height of about 50 cm, it needs to be given a support to climb. Proper pinching will help grow more side buds.

It is best to apply fertilizer twice before the loofah bears fruit, with an interval of about 10 days between each time. When applying fertilizer, be sure to use well-rotted organic fertilizer, so that the loofah will bear more fruit.

[ Summary ] If you have a balcony, you can grow loofah potted plants yourself. Loofah is not only easy to grow, but also bears a lot of fruit. Eating loofah regularly is good for the body. It can whiten the skin, remove spots, and increase immunity.
