Can I plant pepper trees in summer?

From the perspective of time, pepper planting can be divided into spring sowing and autumn sowing. Spring sowing is generally scheduled from mid-March to early April, while autumn sowing is scheduled from July to September .

So, judging from the month, pepper can be grown in summer. However, there are some things to note.

In summer, there is usually abundant rainfall, which easily causes waterlogging in the fields, which is a big challenge for pepper cultivation. Because pepper is drought-resistant but afraid of waterlogging, the probability of death due to flooding in a short period of time is very high.

Therefore, the most important thing to pay attention to when planting pepper in summer is to prevent waterlogging. As for specific measures, I personally recommend two points.

First, choose a plot of land at a relatively high location, and the soil should preferably be sandy soil with good air permeability and drainage . Never cultivate in low-lying areas that are prone to waterlogging.

Second, when it rains, inspect the pepper garden diligently and drain any accumulated water out of the field immediately .

Things to note when planting pepper trees in summer

In addition, there are some precautions in pepper planting that we also need to learn.

① Clarify the planting density and plan in advance

After sufficient land preparation, dig planting holes with a spacing of 1.5 meters between plants and 2.5 meters between rows. The depth of the planting holes depends on the length of the seedlings.

② Planting should be done in place and in steps

After digging the planting hole, mix the excavated soil with decomposed farmyard manure in equal proportions. Then, fill the pit with the mixed soil, and the height is 1/3 of the entire planting hole. Then, put the pepper seedlings into the hole, fill the soil again, and tamp it down after it is filled.

③Pay attention to weeding and avoid weed damage

Since pepper is planted in summer, it will face more serious weed damage. In summer, there is abundant rain and sunshine, and weeds grow vigorously, which will be detrimental to the normal growth of pepper seedlings. Therefore, what needs to be done is to clear the weeds in the field to prevent weed damage from affecting the growth of pepper seedlings.

Well, this is the end of the discussion on the above issues regarding the cultivation of Sichuan pepper. If there are any points that are not fully explained or are obviously wrong, you are welcome to comment and point them out.
