The carrot seedling period is relatively long, generally 20 to 25 days. In the case of a lack of seedlings or very few seeds, seedling transplanting or seedling division transplanting is also chosen to expand the nutritional area and avoid overcrowding. In this way, the carrots grown will have strong fleshy roots and good quality. When can carrot seedlings be transplanted? The best time to transplant carrots is before the seedlings grow three to four leaves . The smaller the seedlings, the less likely they are to be damaged. The higher the survival rate after transplanting, the lower the rate of fleshy root deformity. How to transplant carrots1. Water before transplanting Water the seedbed or plot sufficiently 2-3 days before transplanting , and lift the seedlings at the right time. On the basis of keeping the soil of the nursery or planting plot loose and high in organic matter, apply more decomposed farmyard manure as base fertilizer to further ensure that the root system of the seedlings is well developed and conducive to lifting the seedlings. 2. Remove the seedlings When lifting the seedlings , start from one side, dig a trench of more than 10 cm, turn the soil to one side, and shovel out the seedlings from the bottom after the roots are exposed to avoid damaging the roots. Do not grab the seedlings and pull them out, as this will damage the rhizome or break the root tip, causing the roots to fork, which will become deformed after swelling. Try to take out as much soil as possible with the seedlings. If multiple seedlings are gathered together, you can gently separate them to prevent them from gathering together and affecting the expansion of the fleshy roots and increasing their density. 3. Transplanting Prepare the soil in the field or the area where replanting is needed in advance to meet the soil moisture standard, then dig trenches and finely tame the soil, with a trench spacing of 20-25 cm and a plant spacing of 15-20 cm . Then evenly place the seedlings , making sure the roots are straight and not bent, and then cover them with decomposed farmyard manure . The transplanting depth should be at the same level as the rhizome and the soil surface. Post-transplantation care of carrots1. When pulling out seedlings Its rhizome is very fragile and cannot be pulled directly, otherwise it will easily break. The soil should be moistened first and then loosened to avoid damaging the roots. 2. Method of determining value The specification should be 20 by 20 cm, not too dense. After setting the value, just make sure the seedlings do not fall over, and do not compact the soil too much. 3. Watering after planting Water gently, do not knock down the seedlings and do not let the stems and leaves be covered with soil. |
