How to propagate glass begonias by cuttings and precautions How to propagate glass begonias by cuttings

Glass begonias are gorgeous when they bloom, and the colors are varied, including white, pink, rose red, purple red, etc. As long as the temperature is suitable for growth, they can bloom all year round, and are very popular among flower lovers. There are three ways to propagate glass begonias: cuttings, division, and sowing.

Cutting time of glass begonia

When taking cuttings of glass begonias, you should pay attention to the timing. You can choose to do it in March to May in spring . In addition to spring, you can also choose August to September in autumn . The effect is also relatively good, and the rooting speed is relatively fast. Cuttings can also survive in other seasons, but the survival rate is much lower than that in spring and autumn.

Tips on cuttings of crabapple

1. Cut branches

Cut strong and vigorous branches from the glass begonia, which must be free of pests and diseases and flower buds, and should be about 10 cm long. After cutting, cut off the leaves underneath to prevent rot caused by cuttings in the future, then place in a cool place and let the cut dry slightly.

2. Prepare the soil

After processing the branches, you can prepare the soil. Fine sand can be used. In order to ensure nutrition, you can also mix sand and garden soil. The soil made in this way is not only loose but also rich in nutrients.

3. Take cuttings

Use chopsticks to poke a small hole in the prepared soil, then gently insert the branch into it. The depth should be about one-third of the length of the cutting. The cuttings should not be too dense.

Precautions for cutting of glass begonia

After the glass begonia is grafted, pay attention to the subsequent maintenance management, water the soil thoroughly , place it in a cool and ventilated place , and control the temperature between 20-30 degrees Celsius . It will take about 2-3 weeks to take root, and then you can maintain it normally.
