When is the best time to transplant peony flowers? How to transplant with high survival rate?

The peony is elegant and has always been loved by everyone. We usually see them planted on the ground, but now people like to plant peonies in pots, which are very beautiful when they bloom. Planting them in pots makes it convenient to move and can also decorate our rooms well.

Peony transplanting time

The best season for planting peonies is in autumn. Generally, peonies can be transplanted from late September to early November. The survival rate is high. It should not be too early or too late. Planting too late will not fully recover normal growth, and winter will come without normal differentiation of flower buds, which is not conducive to the normal growth of the plants.

How to transplant peony flowers

When we choose a flower pot, the depth should be about 30 cm. In order to better drain the water, we can lay a layer of gravel at the bottom of the flower pot and prepare fertile soil. It is best to mix in some decomposed animal manure and leaves, etc.

First, we need to dig the peony out of the soil, clean the soil around the roots, and check the condition of the roots. If the roots are too dense or rotten, we need to trim them appropriately, disinfect them, and finally put them in the pot.

Management of Peonies after Transplantation

After transplanting, water it thoroughly so that the roots can absorb enough water, then place it in a cooler place, away from direct sunlight, with appropriate diffuse light.

When the plant just sprouts in spring, you can water it appropriately to help the growth of the plant leaves. No fertilizer is needed in the next year. Apply fertilizer after the temperature rises.
