How to water Kalanchoe when it blooms

How to water Kalanchoe when it blooms

Control watering during flowering period

Different plants have different watering methods during their flowering period, so you need to control the watering of Kalanchoe when it is blooming. It is a drought-resistant plant. When watering it on a daily basis, we always follow the principle of not watering unless the soil is dry, and this is especially true during the flowering period.

If you water too frequently during the flowering period, it will directly affect the quality of flowering. If the potting soil is too moist for a long time, it will also give pests and diseases an opportunity to take advantage. Therefore, when watering, you should first observe the soil in the pot. If the upper layer of the soil in the pot is a little dry, you can water it. Don't set a fixed time for watering your plants; this is not accurate.

How to correctly judge whether to water

Here I want to share a little trick with you. When observing the soil in the pot, you can use a small toothpick to insert into the soil, about 3/4 of the way in, and take it out after more than 10 seconds. If there is no moisture on the toothpick, it proves that watering is needed. If there is still moisture, you can water it after a period of time.

Other things to note when flowering

First of all, there must be good air circulation, and the air and water permeability of the potting soil must be good, so that even if you water too much at a certain time, there is still a chance to save it; secondly, there must be plenty of sunlight; finally, do not apply any fertilizer. Many friends think that this plant will consume nutrients when it blooms, so they apply fertilizer and water during the flowering period, but this is actually a wrong practice.
