What kind of soil is best for growing spider plants? What kind of soil is needed to grow better?

Chlorophytum has very high requirements for soil during the cultivation process. If we want to grow high-quality Chlorophytum plants, we must first meet its requirements for soil. Generally speaking, it is best to prepare nutrient soil with good air permeability and drainage.

Soil for Chlorophytum

To plant spider plants, you need to use loose, fertile soil with good air permeability and drainage. You can use leaf mold, garden soil, and river sand to prepare it. We can also mix peat and perlite. The soil for maintaining spider plants should also be kept clean and disinfected before use to prevent pathogens or insect eggs in the soil from invading the plant roots.

Chlorophytum soil preparation method

1. Garden soil + sandy soil + perlite: When planting spider plants, we must ensure its contact with air and water, so we must choose soil with good air permeability. When preparing, you usually need to prepare 2 parts of garden soil, 2 parts of sandy soil, and 1 part of perlite, and mix them evenly together.

2. Dead leaves + fine sand + fertilizer: In the early stage of the growth of spider plants, more nutrients are needed for growth, so it is very suitable to choose nutrient soil at this time. When preparing, you can mix 1000 grams of dead leaves and 500 grams of fine sand together, and then pour in about 20 grams of fertilizer.

3. Pine needles + fine sand + soil: When preparing the soil for spider plants, you can crush 500 grams of pine needles, mix it with 300 grams of fine sand and 1000 grams of soil, and then put some broken stones at the bottom of the spider plant pot. This way, the moisture can be fully discharged when planting the spider plant, and it will not cause the spider plant to rot.

Chlorophytum soil replacement

Before changing the soil for the spider plant, it must be removed from the pot, the soil ball must be carefully broken up to expose the roots, and some fleshy roots and aging fibrous roots must be cut off. Before potting, fertile soil must be put into the pot, and then the roots of the plant must be spread out, and then covered with soil and compacted.
